How does the lip flip technique work?

With a lip flip, we do not fill the lip, but turn it slightly outwards with Botox, which automatically makes it look fuller. To do this, we inject a small amount of botulinum toxin into the muscles above your upper lip. This causes the lip to curl outwards and makes the red of the lip more visible. This makes your lips look more defined and the upper lip appear much fuller. With the filler, we inject the lips and fill in volume, here we do not work with volume, but only lift. The lip flip is therefore ideal if you want the most natural result possible without additional volume.

To subtly lift the upper lip, we inject small amounts of Botox in and around the upper lip. The lip flip is barely noticeable for you and only takes around 10-20 minutes.

After 2-3 days you can already feel the first change: your upper lip feels fuller. You may find it difficult to drink with a straw for a few days because your upper lip feels different. However, your lips will already look much fuller!

If required, we offer you a free follow-up appointment two weeks after the lip flip to perfect your result. At no additional cost, our doctors will inject botulinum toxin into specific areas during the follow-up treatment if the lip flip effect is too subtle for your liking.

After your treatment

To ensure that your lip flip result really comes into its own, there are a few little things you should pay attention to after your treatment.

Sport and physical activities

Avoid intensive sport, sun or sauna for approx. 72 hours – this allows the muscle relaxant to develop optimally. This will also prevent possible swelling or small bruises around your lip.

No downtime

However, you can continue your everyday life as normal after your lip flip and don’t have to take any extra vacation.

Small hint

You may have a different feeling in your upper lip in the first few days and may not be able to pull on a straw as well, but you will have full, defined lips. However, this will go away on its own, so there’s no need to worry!

Are there any side effects with the injection?

As with any aesthetic treatment method, side effects may occur in rare cases. Slight oedema, redness or small bruises may occur at the injection sites, but these usually disappear on their own after a few hours. In rare cases, a temporary weakening of adjacent muscles or asymmetrical facial expressions may occur. If any unevenness remains after two weeks, we will correct this for you at your follow-up appointment – at no extra cost.

How long does the effect of botulinum toxin last?

The end result usually lasts between four and six months, although the duration of effect can vary depending on the individual’s metabolism. After that, muscle activity slowly returns.

Is the botulinum treatment very painful?

As the injection is carried out using very fine syringes, you will hardly notice the minor procedure. In exceptional cases, we can apply an anesthetic cream beforehand.

When will I see the first results?

Botox usually works quite quickly. After your lip flip, you can usually feel your upper lip relax and appear a little fuller after about 5 days. You will see the final result after two weeks.
