Who is a Gummy Smile correction with Botox suitable for?
The reason for a gummy smile can be small teeth, an upper jaw that is too long, an overdeveloped lifting muscle of the upper lip or all of the above together. The term “gummy smile” comes from the fact that too much gum and the upper row of teeth is visible when smiling and the word “gummy” comes from the English word “gum” for gums.
In most cases, however, the lifting muscle is the cause of a gummy smile because it pulls your upper lip back too much when you smile, making your gums visible.
Botox is best suited for correcting these cases in particular. We can relax the muscle and prevent the upper lip from pulling back too much when you smile. The result is a natural smile without a gummy smile.

Gummy Smile treatment with Botox in 4 steps
Your doctor or specialist will look at your facial expressions and muscles together with you and determine the optimum dose of botulinum toxin in a consultation.
During the Gummy Smile correction, the active ingredient botulinum toxin is injected into and around the muscle of your upper lip using super-fine needles. The procedure is virtually painless for you and only takes a few minutes.
5-7 days after the Gummy Smile injections you will feel the first effects: Your upper lip will pull up less when you smile and may feel a little more relaxed. The full effect of Botox unfolds after two weeks, by which time your Gummy Smile will have disappeared completely.
If your Gummy Smile is still too clearly visible two weeks after the treatment, we can inject the muscles again free of charge. We always work together to avoid a typical frozen face. Correction is always possible!
Treating a gummy smile with Botox
Botox works quite quickly, the first results are usually visible about 5 days after your Gummy Smile correction. The full effect of Botox unfolds 2 weeks after your injection. You can laugh from the heart again without feeling uncomfortable because your upper lip no longer pulls upwards when you smile. With the right care, the effect will last for around 4 months. After that, the muscle activity will return and your gummy smile – the visible gums when you laugh – will become increasingly visible again.
